Mrs. Ada Lucille Curtis, age 81, of Johnson City, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2013, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Curtis was a native of Konnarock, Virginia who had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Flossie Jane Blevins Griffin. In addition to her parents several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, Russell Curtis; seven daughters, Shirley Bowman and her husband Eddie, Judy Whitson and her husband Billy, Diane Grindstaff and her husband Kenneth, Brenda Tipton, Kathy Carter and her husband Terry, Linda Dawson and her husband David and Barbara Curtis; five sons, Dennis Curtis and his wife Shiela, Jerry Curtis and his wife Melisa, Gary Curtis and his wife Brenda, Danny Curtis and his wife Tina and Tony Curtis and his wife Jama; one brother, Roy Griffin; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family of Mrs. Ada Lucille Curtis will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday, December 21, 2013 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the South Chapel at 7 PM. Rev. Roy Yelton will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 PM Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery.
