Adele Pierce Smith

Adele Pierce Smith, 81, of 215 Highland Avenue, Johnson City died Saturday, November 3, 2007 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was a native of Carter County and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Dayton Bruce and Millie Greene Pierce. She was a retired supervisor with the Sprint Telephone Company and a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Cecelia Baumgardner; one sister, Christine Cross; and two brothers, Joe Pierce and Robert B. Pierce. Survivors include: her loving husband of thirty-six and a half years, Glenn R. Smith, Sr. of the home; two daughters, Debra Bean Griffith of Limestone and Janice Campbell of Morristown; one son, Glenn R. Smith, Jr. of Kingsport; one sister, Maxine Bentley of Johnson City; eight grandchildren, Richard France of Johnson City, Erin Adele Guinn of Limestone, Christopher Glenn Baumgardner of Jacksonville, FL, Joyce Baumgardner of Jacksonville, FL, Lisa Franklin of Johnson City, Kim Setser of Morristown, Daryle Glenn Smith of Kingsport, and Joel Smith of Kingsport; numerous Great Grandchildren; one special neice, Anita Pierce ; several other nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Adele Pierce Smith will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in the chapel mausoleum at Washington County Memory Gardens. Rev. James Cambron and Rev. John Perkins will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday Evening. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 10:30 AM Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
