Adele Townsend

Adele B. Townsend, 76, of Johnson City, died Thursday, September 20, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Johnson City and daughter of the late Walter P. and Margaret Sawyer Brownlow. In addition to her parents, two sisters, Jean Compost and Alma Brownlow and a brother, Pete Brownlow, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter Sherri Townsend, son David Townsend, brother Lloyd Brownlow, all of Johnson City, and several cousins. Adele was a retired administrative secretary with Merrill-Lynch for many years. She was a member of Cornerstone Church for over 30 years actively participating in many functions such as Thursday Bible Study, and the Melting Pot Ministry. Adele was also a member of the Brown Gardenias and the Old Timers Hiking Club. She was a 'darn good cook'?. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church under the direction of Dr. Barry Burns. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at 7:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, September 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home to leave in procession by 9:40 a.m. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Ministries, 100 N.
