Albert Francis Iglar

July 17, 1939 — February 22, 2011

Albert F. Iglar, 71, of Johnson City, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. He was a native of New Kensington, PA and a son of the late Albert F. and Mary Harouse Iglar. Mr. Iglar was also preceded in death by his wife Loretta Ruth Streich Iglar. Mr. Iglar was a member of the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church where he served as both a deacon and Sunday School teacher. For many years Dr. Iglar was a member member of the Tennessee Air Pollution Control Board appointed by the Govenor. He graduated from Carnegie-Mellon in 1961 where he received his BS in Chemical Engineering. He later graduated from the University of Minnesota with his M. P. H. and Ph. D. in Environmental Health. He was a member of the Metro Kiwanis in Johnson City. Dr. Iglar had worked at ETSU for over 30 years. After retirement he volunteered at ETSU for several years. He served students from over 56 countries, he had reviewed over 300 Thesises that are kept at ETSU Appalachian Archives. Survivors include; one daughter, Deborah Anderson and her husband Eric of Johnson City and one son, David Alan Iglar of Brentwood, TN; two sisters, Mary Ellen Mintz and Theresa King, both of Fairfax, VA Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00pm Saturday, February 26, 2011 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Ronnie Mitchell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with a Spirits Dove release. David, his son , Eric, his son in law and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday.
