Alfred Summers Taylor, age 97, went home to be with his Lord on January 6, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was married for over 74 years to his beloved wife, Martha Gene (Speed) Taylor. He is survived by three daughters: Susan Kelly Taylor (Greenville, South Carolina), Kathryn Anita Taylor (Mexico City), and Patricia Love Taylor (Grand Junction, Colorado with her husband Michael Sutherland). He is also survived by granddaughters Kathryn Taylor Adkins (with her husband Cameron Adkins) and Duval Taylor Sutherland, as well as his great-granddaughter, Eliana Grace Adkins.

Alf was a dedicated Christian who was committed to his family, church, friends and community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Kelly and J. Blaine Taylor, brother James, sister Alice Jane Sanders, and his wife Martha Gene.

There are no services at this time, however a “Celebration of Alf’s and Martha Gene’s Lives” is being planned for the spring.

In lieu of flowers, Alf would have appreciated your support of organizations such as your local church, The Gideons International, International Justice Mission, Young Life or Partners in Community International.
