Allen K. Miller

Allen K. Miller, 77, of Piney Flats, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018. Allen was born in Roan Mountain, son of the late William and Grace Miller. He joined the Marines right out of high school where he served for four years. After that he joined the Air Force, where he served for 22 more years. When his service was through, Allen worked for Tennessee Motors as a salesman, where he was Salesman of the Month many times. He retired officially in 2003. Over the years he worked part time at Tri-Cities Golf Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and hunting. He especially enjoyed doing these things with his son and grandsons, whom he loved more than words could ever say. He was a member of Poplar Ridge Christian Church. He was also a member of Outdoorsman Hunting Club and a member of the NRA. He was also a private pilot and flew single-engine aircraft. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Billie Miller. Allen is survived by his wife, Inez G. Miller; Daughters, Angela Southerland and her husband Koy, Terrie Slagle and her husband Eddie, and Audrey Miller; one son, Joseph Miller and his wife Danielle; grandchildren, Jacob Slagle and Gibson, Ethan, Rylan, Kayson, and Colton Miller; three sisters, Betty Farmer and her husband Ted, Janice Moze and her husband Garth, Kim Miller; and one brother, Mike Miller and his wife Lisa. The family of Allen Miller will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral will follow at 8:00 PM officiated by Roland Whittemore. A committal service will be held at 10:45 AM on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to gather just inside the cemetery entrance at 10:35 AM. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Jacob Slagle, Gibson Miller, Ethan Miller, Rylan Miller, Kayson Miller, Colton Miller, as well as son-in-laws: Eddie Slagle and Koy Southerland.
