Mr. Andy Monroe Lyons, 66, Johnson City, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Lyons was a native of Elizabethton who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late Nathaniel Lyons and Faye Greer Lyons. In addition to his parents one brother, Howard Lyons also preceded him in death. Mr. Lyons was a self-employed electrician and was a member of Zion Baptist Church and Lyons Chapel. Survivors include: his wife of forty years, Margie Townsend Lyons of the home; one brother, Johnny Lyons and his wife Betty of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Mary Stevens and her husband Bailey of Hampton; one special dog, Baby; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Homestead Health Care, Vicki Banner, Nancy Vanhoy, Misti, Intern Nursing, Pam Beverly and Asbury Nursing Home. The funeral service for Mr. Andy Monroe Lyons will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Arnold Hensley and Rev. Amos Buyes will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Men of Lyons Chapel and Zion Baptist Church, Steven Townsend and Joe Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be : Freddie Townsend, Edward 'Eddie'? Townsend and Bailey Stevens. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 2:15 PM Sunday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday prior to the service.
