Ann Joyce Klugewicz

Ann Joyce (n?e Dale) Klugewicz, 86, of Johnson City, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at home. Mrs. Klugewicz was born on Staten Island, New York, to Alfred J. and Ann Marie Gordon Dale. She was also raised by her foster parents, John and Ruth Adams, on Long Island, New York. She had lived in Johnson City for the past eleven years. She had previously lived in Jacksonville, Florida. She raised her family in Bowie, Maryland, where she lived from 1962-2003. Her husband of 55 years, Joseph D. Klugewicz, died in 2003. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to take care of her family and her home, and she was an exceptional cook and baker. Mrs. Klugewicz was also a devoted friend. In these past few years, the ladies of the Johnson City Women?s Club were very special to her. Mrs. Klugewicz spent some years as a stay-at-home mom and also worked in various positions in the health care field. She was also an energetic volunteer. She was involved in many church activities in Bowie, Maryland, and also in political work. In the 1970s she was Chief Judge of Elections for the Republican Party in her precinct in Prince George?s County, Maryland. For a time she wrote a food column, ?Joyce?s Culinary Corner,' for the local Bowie newspaper. Survivors include her daughter, Karen Ascik and her husband Tom, and sons Christopher Klugewicz and Stephen Klugewicz and his wife Emily; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including her goddaughter, Sharon Gordon, and a half-sister and half-brother. She is also mourned by Susan L. Klugewicz. In addition to her parents and foster parents, Mrs. Klugewicz was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Joseph D. Klugewicz; her sisters Margaret and Mary Lou; her half-sister Kathleen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a great-granddaughter. The family of Ann Joyce Klugewicz will receive friends from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, February 10, 2017, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Johnson City. The funeral will follow at noon.
