Dr. Ann Neblett James, age 86, passed away gracefully after a brief illness. Born Sept. 1, 1929 in Coeburn, VA, she went to the Lord on Aug. 13, 2016. Her family acknowledges that she was the core of strength that they consistently leaned on and her familiar counsel of ?all things come to those who wait' provided much guidance. Dr. James enjoyed spending time with her family, keeping up with politics, reading, and listening to the music of Pavarotti. Dr. James valued education and after her graduation from Virginia High School in 1946, she matriculated at Virginia Intermont College. In 1948, she transferred to Westhampton College at the University of Richmond to study science. She graduated with honors in 1950. A lifelong advocate of higher education, Dr. James set a shining example for her children and grandchildren by earning a Master of Science in Education at ETSU in 1971 and later received a Doctorate in Education in 1983. Those left to cherish her memory include two sisters, five children, nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the debt reduction fund at St. John?s Episcopal Church.
