Asmeret Nor Asfedai

Asmeret Nor Asfedai, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Asmeret was born on August 22, 1974, in Asmara, Eritrea to the late Nor Asfedai and Abrehet Asfedai.

Asmeret married her husband, Yemane Tsegai, on January 10, 1998. Not only was she a loving wife, but she was also a devoted mother of four: Ebenezer, Suset, Yireab, Halyoteab, whom she cherished dearly. Asmeret was a member of Calvary Church and a lead pastor for EriPrayers, an Eritrean telecom prayer service.

Seventeen years ago, Asmeret made her journey to the United States with her two youngest sons. She was seeking treatment at a Rochester Clinic for her son Yireab. As a result, Asmeret was separated from her loving husband and two oldest children for almost 15 years. Despite being separated due to distance and life challenges, Asmeret and Yemane’s love was persistent and enduring. He cherished Asmeret by always putting her needs first. No amount of time or distance hindered their love for each other.

After patiently waiting for many years, on March 18, 2020, Asmeret was joyfully reunited with her husband and children, Ebenezer and Suset.

Asmeret was a very spiritual and God-fearing woman. Her strength and praise of the Lord carried her through the most challenging times. She was an eternal optimist with a bubbly personality. Asmeret was a comforter and always found a way to uplift the spirits of her loved ones with her laughter and her humorous and clever anecdotes. Asmerets contagious laugh and endearing smile filled every room she entered.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Amanuel Asfedai. Those left to cherish Asmeret’s memory include her husband, Yemane Tsegai; children, Ebenezer Yemane, Suset Yemane, Yireab Yemane, and Halyoteab Yemane; including many other extended family members and friends.
