Barbara Helen Johnson Humphrey,69, of 11 Willow Tree Court, Johnson City died Saturday, November 29, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Humphrey was a native of Washington County and a daughter of the late Charles S. and Elmira Ford Johnson and Edgar and Novella Humphrey Ford. Mrs. Humphrey was a member of the Watauga First Church of God in Watauga, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Humphrey and two sons, Ricky Joe and Brad Allen Humphrey; one sister, Virginia L. Ford Campbell. Mrs. Humphrey was employed with National Health Care for twenty-one years. She was also co-owner of Tennessee Valley Church Furniture. Survivors include: one daughter, Tammy Milhorn of Piney Flats; two granddaughters, Melissa Milhorn of Johnson City and Erica Humphrey of Piney Flats; one gramdson, Brian Milhorn of Piney Flats; one sister Brenda Jenkins of Johnson City; a very special friend, Carol Penix of Gray, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Barbara H. Johnson Humphrey will be conducted at 8 PM Sunday, November 30, 2008 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Rev. Jim McMahan will officiate. Music will be by Mr. Ed Skeans, soloist. The graveside service will conducted at 1 PM Monday in the Shell Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at Morris-Baker on Monday bat12:30 PM to go to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bill Cox, Dennis Cox, Tommy Penix, Ed Skean, Roy Junior Penix, Tony Clay and Keith Fair. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, prior to the service. Friends may also visit at the residence of the daughter.
