Barbara Ruth Goodwin

Barbara Ruth Goodwin, 65, of Johnson City, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 14, 2019 at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City. She was born in Elizabethton, a daughter of the late Albert and Nola Yelton Hyder. Barbara was a member of University Parkway Baptist Church, where she was a preschool teacher in the Livewire Children?s Ministry for over nine years. She was a devout Christian and was part of the Explorer Bible Study group for over 30 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne Goodwin; and three sisters, Brenda York, Marrian Smith, and Jewel Richardson. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Goodwin; a stepdaughter, Patsy Hayes; a stepdaughter, Lois Brady and her husband, Ron; a stepdaughter, Donna Mitchell and her husband, Fred; a stepson, Gary Goodwin; a brother, Carl Hyder and his wife Donna; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The Goodwin family will receive friends from 12:00 ? 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel and will be officiated by Dr. Michael Oaks. The committal service will be held at 3:00 pm at Rittertown Baptist Church cemetery in Hampton, TN. Family and friends are requested to gather at the cemetery at 2:50 pm.
