Benjamin "Cody" Rhodes

Benjamin “Cody” Rhodes, 35, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 in Nashville, TN.

He was born in Johnson City, TN, on September 4, 1987.

Cody had a joy and love for baseball. He was also an avid football fan; he enjoyed playing as well watching the Tennessee Volunteers.

Cody’s work ethic and deep-seated humor was evident for anyone who met him. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in three years and graduated top 10 in his class from law school. He chose to commit himself to being the best he could in life. He loved to work on the Hill in Washington D.C., but always remembered his home in Tennessee.

He extended his best self to friends, determined to make them laugh or to encourage them, and cheered their successes. He loved his family fiercely and was a blessing to them. He loved his wife with all his heart. Cody loved to look toward the future and was always planning trips or checking houses online to renovate.

Cody loved the Lord and pursued God’s path for his life. His faith and commitment to God only grew during challenging times. He fought with determination at every turn, but prayed only for his family and friends--never himself.

Cody will be remembered as a humble and steadfast husband, son, cousin, and friend. He wishes all to take comfort that in heaven, we will see him again.

Those surviving include his wife, Keri Stophel Rhodes; parents, Gregory Harold Rhodes and Sheila Kay Dove Rhodes; parents-in-law, Gretta and Steve Emery; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A committal service will be held for Cody at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Eden-Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesborough. The Reverend Steven Harmon will officiate. Those attending are asked to gather at the graveside by 12:50 PM.
