Mrs. Bertie Colleen Feathers, 94, of Jonesborough, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, in the Four Oaks Health Care, Jonesborough. Mrs. Feathers was a native of Sullivan County who had lived in Johnson City since 1985. She was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle Slagle Hickman. Mrs. Feathers was a homemaker and a faithful member of Watauga Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, G.C. Feathers; two sisters, Lillian Leonard and Margaret Graybeal; three brothers, Earl Hickman, Hal Hickman and Holbert Hickman; one grandson, Jarrod Feathers. Survivors include: one son, Douglas A. Feathers and his wife Janie; four sisters, Hazel Dishner, Shelby Ketron, Ruth Seats and Georgia Weatherly; one grandson, Matthew Feathers; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to express a special thank you to Four Oaks Health Care for the love and care that was given to Mrs. Feathers. The family of Mrs. Bertie Colleen Feathers will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow with Mr. Paul Peer and Rev. Jerry Feathers officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
