Bessie A. Mckee

Mrs. Bessie A. McKee, 91, 582 Forrester Road, Piney Flats, died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol. Mrs. McKee was a lifelong resident of Piney Flats. She was the daughter of the late Jess and Nannie Hodges Whitaker. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Everett Mckee; two sons, Johnny McKee and David McKee; one brother, Donald Whitaker; one sister, Nellie McKee. She was a homemaker. Mrs. McKee was a member of the New Bethel Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: two sons, Robert McKee and Danny McKee both of Piney Flats; two daughters, Martha Morris of Piney Flats and Nancy Peterson of Gray; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Bessie A. McKee will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Paul Peer, Mr. Gerald Holly and Dr. Andrew Spence will officiate. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, in the New Bethel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Harold Barnes, Graham Hodges, John Clark, Donnie Whitaker, Ronnie Martin and Jerry Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Flower bearers will be granddaughters. Family, ministers and friends will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM Sunday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday prior to the service. The family would like to say a special thanks to Phyllis Painter and Howard King. The family would also like to say a special thank you to the Johnson City Medical Center nursing staff on floor 3300 and 6300.
