Bessie Lee Edwards

Mrs. Bessie Lee Edwards, age 77, of Telford, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Edwards was a native of Kingsport. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Wila Mae Price Cornett. In addition to her parents her husband of forty-five years Levi Chandler Edwards; one brother; two sisters; one infant daughter, Rachel Edwards also preceded her in death. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker but had assisted her husband in his brick mason business. She was a member of the New Victory Baptist Church. Bessie loved her rose garden, and enjoyed nice clothing, animals, and collecting ceramic angles and dolls. Survivors include six sons, Eugene Edwards, Robert Edwards, Joseph Edwards, Charles Edwards, Gary Shanks, and Larry Edwards; four daughters, Judy Evaul, Janice Kirkland, Becky McKee and Nancy Smith; one brother, Butch Cornett; seven grandsons; three granddaughters; eight great grandsons; three great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Bessie Lee Edwards will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 3 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Jeremy Dykes and Pastor Terry Abel will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Edwards Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
