Betty Ann Carriger Edwards, 77, of Johnson City, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at the Four Oaks Health Care Center in Jonesborough. She was a native of Carter County, daughter of the late David King Carriger and Ida Grindstaff Carriger. Betty was a retired manager of the Motherhood Maternity Store. She was a member of the Snow Memorial Baptist Church and had taught Sunday School for many years. Betty loved gardening, sewing and anything that included her grandchildren and their activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Edwards, Jr.; a daughter, Debbie Hammett; three brothers, Norman, Cliff and Bill Carriger; three sisters, Georgie Kinley, Ina Murr and Evelyn Waycaster. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, Karen E. and Jon Harvey of Johnson City; five grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law, Emily Harvey of Denver, Colorado, Allie Harvey, Kelly Harvey and Tatum Harvey all of Johnson City, Matthew and Yoon Loutzenhiser of South Korea; a sister, Galilee Osborne of Fairfax, Virginia; a son-in-law Ed Hammett; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, August 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of the Morris '? Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Mike Pelham and Rev. Timothy Adkins. Special music will be provided by The Harveys. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. A committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
