Betty Ann Hopson

November 22, 1928 — March 7, 2012

Betty A. Hopson, 83 of Johnson City, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 after a short illness. She was a native of Greene County, Tennessee, daughter of the late John and Fannie Lynn Bergner Murphy. Betty was a clerk for many years at the Anderson Drug Store. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Barbara Murphy and a son, Douglas Hopson. Survivors include: her husband of 68 years, Floyd J. Hopson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Sara Hopson of Brentwood; a daughter, Sharon McQueen of Johnson City; four grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Jimmy and Jamie Hopson of Brentwood, Richard Ryan and Helen McQueen of Odessa, Florida, Jeffrey Hopson of Lavergne and Cole Lowery of Brentwood; one granddaughter, Tara Lowery of Brentwood; five great grandchildren, Johnny, Joey, Jessie and Jake Hopson and Caleb Thomas. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris Baker Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Hill will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday, March 10, 2012 in the Roselawn Memory Gardens at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession by 10:30 a.m. Active pallbearers will be: family and friends.
