Obituary for Betty Lois Duncan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Lois Duncan, 85, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, who departed this life on March 18, 2025 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Tennessee to her parents Holt & Gladys Bailey and was a sister to 12 siblings. Betty was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She spent over 40 + years as Executive Assistant to the Dean of the School of Public and Allied Health at East Tennessee State University, where her contributions were valued by both colleagues and students alike. Betty was a member of Southwestern Baptist Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Holt & Gladys Bailey, her former husband C. D. Duncan, and other family members.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her family, including her sons, Kenneth (Donna) Duncan, Ray (Lisa) Duncan, and daughter, Janice (Fred) McElyea; grandchildren Travis, Emily, Brody, Braxton, and Crystal; great grandchildren Colton, Savannah, Burton, Nora, and Henry; Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for her loved ones will be cherished in their hearts forever.

There will be a graveside service conducted Saturday March 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Washington County Memory Gardens. Elder Patrick Tester will officiate the service. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Travis Duncan, Noah Venters, Brody Duncan, Braxton Duncan, Jared Hicks, and Jeff Harold.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to Embreeville Church of Christ for Hurricane relief. Betty's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
