Betty S. Watkins, 74, of Johnson City, died Friday, June 27, 2008 in the North Side Hospital. Mrs. Watkins was a native of Knox County who had lived in Johnson City most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Cecil Monday. In addition to her parents one brother, David Monday, also preceded her in death. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: three daughters, Linda Gordon and her husband Rick of Johnson City, Bonnie Webb and her husband Phillip of Elizabethton and Loretta Freeman and her husband Robert of Johnson City; four sons, Arvil C. Vance of Pinellas Park, FL, Robert Vance of Saint Petersburg, FL, Eugene Vance and his wife Tara of Johnson City and Calvin Darnell 'Cody'? Honeycutt and his wife Sarah of Johnson City; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; dogs, Molly, Tubby, Thunder and B.Bear. The funeral service for Betty S. Watkins will be conducted at 7:30 PM Monday June 30, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Bobby Miller will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral Chapel at 10:30 AM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 7:30 PM Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter, 525 Sells Avenue, Johnson City Tn 37604.
