Bettye Eileen Fawver Coggin

March 8, 1927 — April 17, 2010

Bettye Fawver Coggin, 83,formerly of Matson Road in Jonesborough died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in the Madison Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Mars Hill, NC. Mrs. Coggin was born in Dunlap, Tennessee and a daughter of the late Charlie Henry and Sally Eileen Howell Moore. Mrs. Coggin was a secretary at the home office for the Veterans Administration in Washington, DC where she lived for over thirty years. It was there that she met and married Joseph Fawver. She and her husband were former AWANA missionaries in Tennessee. She was a wonderful seamstress and also enjoyed hand needlework. She blessed many loved ones through the years with her gifts of knitting, crocheting, and cross stitch. Mrs. Coggin was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her first husband of 44 years, Joseph J. Fawver in 1993; her second husband of five years, Burrell Thomas 'Tommy'? Coggin in 2003; two sisters, Marjorie Coggin and Janie Vance; and two brothers, Charles Moore and Richard 'Dick'? Moore. Mrs. Coggin is survived by: one daughter, Kathryn and her husband Tom Brown of Weaverville, NC; two sons, Bruce and his wife Pam Fawver of Warsaw, VA , Mark and his wife Debra Fawver of Martin, GA; eight grandchildren, Kyle Fawver and his wife Dana, Erin Fawver, Brad Fawver, Rebecca Poisson and her husband Jean Pierre, Clarissa Fawver, Chris Fawver, Justine Brown, and Claire Brown; one great granddaughter, Meredith Fawver; one brother, David and his wife Betty Moore; a sister-in-law, Sarah Moore of Johnson City; a nephew who grew up with her, Joe Moore and his wife Marilyn; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family of Bettye Fawver Coggin will receive friends on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 6 to 7 PM at Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 PM Tuesday in the South Chapel with Rev. Wayne White officiating. The committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Wednesday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker Wednesday at 9:30 AM to go to the cemetery in procession. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Highland Baptist Church, AWANA Program, 300 Highland Church Road, Johnson City, TN 37615
