Beverly Kerns Draine

Beverly K. Draine, of Johnson City, died Thursday, November 22, 2007, in Erwin,TN. She was a native of Unicoi County, a daughter of the late Charles and Ina Tinker Kerns. Beverly was a secretary for State Farm Insurance and a member of the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Sid Willis, Howard, Robert E., Bill and Sam Kerns; four sisters, Blanche Masters, Peg Schaumberg, Nelle Bennett and Myrtie Childress. Survivors include: her husband, Rex Draine of Johnson City; five step-children, Carolyn Clark of Kingsport, Greg Draine of Knoxville, Mike Draine of Church Hill, Robin Draine of Church Hill and Teresa Draine of Big Stone Gap, Virginia; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Kerns of Jonesborough and Bud Tinker of Erwin; several nieces and nephews. Share with us on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, for a celebration of her life, under the direction of Rev. Mike Tyson and Dr. Jack Parrott and Tim Bennett. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until time of service at seven. There will be a reception of friends, at the church, in the fellowship hall following the funeral service. A committal service will be conducted on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the Washington County Memorial Gardens at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Bill Smith, Hobert Bradshaw, Buford Stone, John Tipton, Thomas Dismukes and Todd Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be: the Howard T. Rich Sunday School Class.
