Bill Wayne Collins, 76, 1408 Squibb Drive, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Asbury Place. Mr. Collins was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was a son of the late Roy Joseph and Kate Beulah York Collins. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Louise Emmert Collins in 2000 and an infant brother. He was retired from the Johnson City Fire Department and served as an Assistant Fire Chief. Mr. Collins was a US Army veteran. He was a born again Christian of the Baptist faith. Mr. Collins was a trout fisherman and loved to fly fish. Survivors include one son, Billy Wayne Collins, TX; two sisters, Louise Couch and Shirley Hurdt both of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Krissi Collins and Aron Collins and several special nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mr. Collins will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday, November 29, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Graveside services will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Reverend Curtis Hurt and Reverend Matthew Slemp will officiate. Special music will be provided by Matthew Slemp and a quartet composed of Becky Tester, Mr. And Mrs. Jeff Green and David Johnson. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Saturday at the funeral home. The family expresses a special thanks to the staffs of Broadmore Assisted Living and Asbury Place for their loving care of Mr. Collins.
