Billie Joe Holden, 86, Johnson City, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017, from an unexpected illness. Billie was a lifelong resident of Washington County, and was born to the late Fred and Gertie Lovelace Holden. Billie enjoyed his flowers, working in his yard, feeding his birds and taking care of his cats. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves and old westerns on television. He was a wonderful husband, dad and friend. Billie died doing what he loved, being in his yard, but him and his wife are together again. In addition to his parents, Billie was preceded in death by: his wife of 68 years, Ella Mae Holden; and two brothers, Ralph and Coolidge Holden. Survivors include: one sister, Lena Lewis and her husband Herbert; two brothers, John Holden and his wife Geri and James D. Holden and his wife Juanita; two sons and two daughters, Ginger Hopkins, Billy Joe Holden, Jr. and his wife Karen, Debra Holden and James Holden; four grandchildren, Nesha Vest and her husband Kevin, Rachel Cloberdants and her husband Wes, Jason Holden and Misty Lerner; five great-grandchildren, Morgan Vest, James Cloberdants, Ashley Cloberdants, Stephen Vest and Landon Lerner; and several nieces and nephews. A committal service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Monte Vista Memorial Park in the Mausoleum Chapel. Please meet there at 12:50 PM.
