Mr. Billy D. Miller, age 78, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, in Princeton Transitional Care, following a courageous 25 year battle with heart disease. Mr. Miller was a lifelong resident of Washington County. He was the son of the late William and Anna Lee Smith Miller. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by: four sisters, Laura Elizabeth Miller, Nadine Jones, Bernice Goss, and Marie Foley; and two brothers, Bruce and John Miller. Billy served in the US Army. He was a member of Grace Brethren Church. He served as treasurer, head usher, and head of the Grace Brethren Boys. Billy loved camping, and was president of the Edge of the Smokies Campground for four years. He also enjoyed RC airplanes and was president of the local RC club for one year. Mr. Miller retired from the Johnson City Press after 42 years of service. Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Betty Guinn Miller; four children, Anita Patterson and her husband Tracy, Gregory Miller and his wife Tina, Trina Murawski, and Liane Whitman and her husband Chris; six grandchildren, Connor and Laura Murawski, Ava and Zackary Miller, and Alycia and Brianna Clay; one brother, Walter 'Walt'? Miller; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mr. Billy Miller will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, February 27, 2014 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The funeral service will follow in the South Chapel at 8 PM. Pastor Joe Beaver will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 2:15 PM Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 2 PM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
