Billy Eugene Gouge

Billy Eugene Gouge, 76, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center.He was a native of Johnson City and a son of the late, Robert Rexter and Carrie Byrd Gouge. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Carl Gouge.Mr. Gouge was an member of the Pinecrest Baptist Church. He had formerly owned and operated Edgehill Gulf. He was a standout athelete at Happy Valley High School and Milligan College playing both Basketball and Football. He also enjoyed working on his farm.Survivors include; one son, Tony Gouge of Johnson City; one daughter ,and son in law, Kathy and Darrell Current of Belmont, NC; two sisters, Mary Peoples of Ware Shoals, SC and Hazel Gouge of Johnson City; six Grandchildren, Cody Gatlin, Morgan Gatlin, Nicolette Gatlin, Taylor Gouge, Carrie Gouge and Shelton Current; one Great Grand daughter, Brylee Gatlin; 3 nieces and nephews, Debbie Davis, Jimmy Peoples and Cindy Barnhardt.Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. John Perkins will officiate. Burial services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday from the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Cody Gatlin, Taylor Gouge, Darrell Current, Fred Gouge, Jimmy Peoples and T. J. Sparks. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:45 on Wednesday for the cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7:00 pm on Tuesday. Other times at the home of his son, Tony, 170 Greendale Rd. in Johnson City. The family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, 2129 Old Lewis Road, Johnson City, 37601.
