Billy G. France, 82, of Paisley, Florida, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Leesburg Regional Medical Center. Billy was a native of Johnson City and was the son of the late Millard and Dorothy Powell France. A longtime resident of Johnson City, he had recently lived in Paisley, FL. Billy was a retired employee of East Tennessee State University. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. France was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, while serving he was wounded in combat and received the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Louise Swartz France, in 1996; a brother, Ernest France; and two sisters, Peggy Coggins and JoAnn Fox. Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Owens France, of Paisley, FL; two sons, COL Michael Dennis France and his wife, Susan, of Murfreesboro, and Mark Steven France, of Woodstock, GA; two sisters, Nancy Adams, of Las Vegas, NV, and Diane Bryson, of Charleston, SC; two brothers, Tom 'Terry Lee'? France, of Gray, and Michael France, of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Billy G. France will receive friends from 11 am until 1 pm Saturday, October 18, 2014 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm in the North Chapel. Pastor Lon Tobin will officiate. The committal will follow in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be: Greg Fox, Travis France, Mike McFarland, Randy Greene, Kane Dossett, and John T. Adkins.
