Billy Gene Barnett, II, 40, of 14930 Kingsport Highway, Chuckey, died Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville, following a brief illness. He was a native of Washington County, son of Billy Gene and Marolyn Holder Barnett. Billy was a pipe fitter in the construction industry and attended the New Harvest Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Norman and Mae Whitson Barnett and his maternal grandfather, George E. Holder. Survivors include his parents Billy Gene Barnett, Sr. and Marolyn Holder Barnett of Chuckey; two sons, Logan Barnett and Austin Chafin both of Bristol, TN.; a sister and brother-in-law, Melinda and Keith Crussell of Piney Flats; a nice, Megan Crussell of Piney Flats; his maternal grandmother, Lela Peterson Holder of Johnson City; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel of the Morris '' Baker Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. James Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of services at eight. A committal service will be conducted on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Whitson '' Garland Cemetery in Bakersville, NC at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Beulahdean School by 12:30 p.m. to go to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Keith Crussell, Lee Hickman, Roy Emert, II, Martin Crussell, Mike Briscoe, Grat Hickman and Tony Hall; honorary pallbearers will be: Mike Blair, Bill Hodge, Leon Caudell, All his construction buddies, Lee Whitson and Lawrence Hughes. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
