Billy Gene Grace Jr, age 52, ran into the arms of his Savior on September 26, 2019, from the Johnson City Medical Center, where a massive stroke pushed him to the gates of Heaven. Billy was born May 15, 1967, to parents Billy Gene Sr and Earnestine Grace, and a slew of four older and protective sisters.
Billy was a native of the Johnson City area his entire life, and at the young age of 16, Billy was hit head-on by a drunk driver. Billy was a Traumatic Brain Injury patient for the last 35 years. Billy battled to relearn how to walk, talk, and do even the basics of life. One thing that remained with Billy was his funny sense of humor and his charming personality. Even in his darkest days, he could light up a room with his spunk.
Prior to Billy’s traumatic accident, he was a stellar athlete. Nicknamed “Amazing Grace” by his classmates, Billy was a joy to watch and provided many wonderful years to his friends and family while watching him play baseball and basketball. Billy proudly graduated from Daniel Boone High School in 1985 where he received a standing ovation for being the “Amazing Grace” and an inspiration to us all.
Billy Gene’s family includes parents Billy Gene Sr and Earnestine Grace; sisters: the late Janet Fields, Emori Barnes (Eric), Alvina Ketron (Jeff), Suzanne Hunsinger (Todd); nieces and nephews: Angela Fields Newton (Chad), Jacque Ketron Lowe, Melinda Ketron Gouge (Matt), Erica Barnes Brooks (Cody), Jeffrey Fields, Erin Barnes (Katie), and Casey Luevanos.
