Billy George Smith

March 27, 1931 — June 25, 2020

Bill G. Smith, 89, of Johnson City, died Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Cornerstone Village. He was a native of Appalachia, VA, son of the late Ernest Malcom and Frances Irene Sell Smith. Bill was retired salesperson for Brandeis Machinery of Louisville, KY for twenty years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Air Force. Bill had resided in Johnson City since 1990. He was an active and loving member of Edgefield United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed gardening, baking bread, and spending time with his special cousin, Ron Bray, and fellow veterans at Wednesday morning breakfasts.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Betty Hill Hubler Smith preceded him in death.

He is survived by, his son and a daughter-in-law, Tim and Donna Smith and four other children; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Edgefield United Methodist Church from 12:30 pm until 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Edgefield Cemetery under the direction of Rev. Estel Williams. Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family.

Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to Edgefield United Methodist Church, 745 N. Pickens Bridge Road, Piney Flats, TN 37686.
