Billy J. Gibson, 70, of 2607 Watauga Road, Apt. 4, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at the Asbury Place following an illness. He was a native of Watauga, but had lived most of his life in Johnson City, and was the son of the late Cora Fair. Mr. Gibson was a veteran of WWII having served as a Sea Bee in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Iva Lee Gibson of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda & Darrell Peters of Gray, Kathy and Jerry Fair of Johnson City and Connie and Jerry Dunbar of Limestone; six granddaughters, Jennifer, Jessica, Ashley,Michelle, Mary and Dranda; six grandsons, Anthony, Jeffery, Jay, Daniel, Stevie and James; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Cemetery at Mt. Home at 2:00 p.m. with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3382, Kingsport. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Morris - Baker Funeral Home then go in procession to the cemetery. Pall Bearers will be, Frank Bardo, Daniel Hyatt, Anthony Gibson, Brad Garland, Earl Fair and Billy Beck. Visitation will be at other times at the home of his daughter, Kathy Fair at 2607 Watauga Road, Apt. #5.
