Blair Barrett

January 20, 1935 — January 13, 2006

Blair E. Barrett of Johnson City, TN, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 13th, following a stroke. He was 71. Blair was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, where he attended Ashtabula High School and Kent State University. He served in the US Navy as a member of the Ceremonial Guard. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed singing with the SPEBSQSA groups Caveman Chorus, in Glasgow, KY, and the Tar River Chorus, in Rocky Mount, NC. Blair was an engineer, retired from Consolidated Diesel Corporation of Rocky Mount, NC. In retirement, he enjoyed being outdoors, camping, and the company of his family and grandchildren. Blair was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Blair Barrett, and older brother Charles L. 'Corky' Barrett. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Campbell Barrett, four daughters and three sons-in-law, Renee? and Rusty McCandless, Kim Bouknight, Suzy and Bill Cloyd, Beth and Dave DeTroyer, and son and daughter-in-law, Chris Barrett and Mollie T. Moran. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Family members will receive guests from 6pm to 7:30 pm Tuesday, January 17, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 603 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, TN. A memorial service will follow at 7:30 pm.
