Bob J. Holly, 85, of Jonesborough, died Friday, April 12, 2019 at his residence. He was a native of Washington County, son of the late Alva B. and Mamie Lee Lenard Holly.
Bob ran Holly’s Auto Parts, drove a school bus for Washington County Schools, Constable of Washington County 1968-1970, was a candidate for Sheriff in the late 80’s and was an employee of Newell Corporation for 34 and a half years.
He was a member of the Church of God in Johnson City.
Bob was very caring, would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, and loved his family very much.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 63 years, Mildred Ann Holly preceded him in death, a sister Katherine Moffit, and brother Wilburn Holly also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Debra (Kenny) Bowman, a son, Bobby (Angela B) Holly, Jr. and Scott (Penny Babb) Holly; a sister, Dot Talley and two brothers, Q. D. Holly and A.B. (Beverley) Holly; grandchildren, Mary Bowman Howell and her husband, Holly Bowman, Jacob Bowman, Paul Holly, Joshua (Kimberly Marie) Holly, Kay Janell Elizabeth (Justin) Hatcher; great grandchildren, Joshua Jawayne Holly, Rose Marie Holly, Kaydence Metcalf, Rayden Metcalf, Nila Faye Holly, William Robert Bowman and Emma Bowman Howell; several nieces and nephews, and Bobby the Chi-Pom.
The family would like to express a special thanks to nurses, Michael Byrd, Corey Garland and Shane Casey. Also Chaplains, Chris Hughes and Karl Gasser and special friend, Joanne Brumitt Clark and caregivers.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association, 207 N. Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604.
The family will receive friends at home in the days prior to service. A committal service will be conducted on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Washington County Memory Gardens with Karl Gasser officiating. Friends and family are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
