Bob Mcdaniel Green

June 30, 1931 — December 23, 2015

Bob McDaniel Green, 84, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Bob was a native of Johnson City and was the son of the late William McKinley and Edith Green. Bob graduated from the law school at the University of Tennessee in 1960 and began practicing law in Johnson City with his father in the firm Green and Green, Attorneys. In his early legal career, he also served the public as a part-time assistant district attorney general for two years under Attorney General Lodge Evans. He maintained an active trial law practice for over 50 years in Johnson City. He was a former president of the Washington County Bar Association and the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. One of his greatest assets as a trial lawyer was his command of the English language and his huge vocabulary, coupled with a commanding and melodious voice. His former secretary of 35 years, Joan T. Russell, who remained his friend throughout his life, remarked that ?his voice could charm the birds out of the trees.' One local attorney who was writing a book told Bob that ?If I was Bob Green I wouldn?t need this thesaurus.' He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former chairperson of the administrative board of the church at the time when the church installed its pipe organ. For many years, he spent his weekend hours on ?farms' in Roan Mountain and Walnut Mountain where he loved to ride motorcycles and host cookouts for his family. After he moved to ?town', he became an avid bicyclist and spent many happy hours on the New River Trail, Virginia Creeper Trail, and the Erwin Linear Trail. His family and friends gathered around him to celebrate his birthday, including his 82nd birthday, with long bicycle rides and picnics. He is survived by: his six children, Bobby MacBryan Green, Sharon M. Green, Deborah L. Green, Lisa Green, Daniel Green and his wife, Christy, and David Green; his nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Reverend James R. Green and his wife, Carol; and two nephews. The family of Bob McDaniel Green will receive friends from 10 am to 12 pm Monday, December 28, 2015 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 12 pm Monday under the direction of Rev. Ken Lytton. After the service, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Memorial Park for a 1 pm committal. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob?s memory may be made to the Erwin Linear Trail, c/o Erwin Parks and Recreation, P.O.
