Brenda Kay York

June 18, 1956 — January 8, 2015

Brenda Kay York, 58, went to be with the LORD on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Johnson City, daughter of the late Albert and Nola June Yelton Hyder. Brenda was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. Brenda was a strong woman with a caring heart and selflessly took care of others. In addition to her parents, a sister, Jewel Richardson, preceded her in death. Survivors include: a son, Richard York, Jr. of Johnson City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nichole Bennett and James Bennett, Jr. of Elizabethton, Kimberly Williamson of Johnson City; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Carl and Donna Hyder, Jimmy and Pat Yelton and Glenn 'Sonny'? Yelton all of Johnson City; two sisters, Marrian Smith and Barbara Goodwin both of Johnson City; ten grandchildren, Jaclyn, Raina, Samantha, Seth, Natalie and Nathaniel, Dakota, Brooklyn, Cheylee and Percious; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Morris '? Baker Chapel on Sunday, January 11, 2015. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm under the direction of Pastor Edd Davis. A committal service will be conducted on Monday, January 12, 2015 at the Washington County Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home to leave in procession by 12:30 pm. Memorials may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
