Bruce Walter Marshall, Jr.

March 18, 1941 — December 30, 2008

Bruce Walter Marshall, 67, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, in Johnson City, after a courageous battle with cancer. ' I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of rightousness.'? II Timothy 4: 7-8 Bruce was a Johnson City native. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Walter Marshall, his mother, Alma Dove Marshall and a sister, Loretta Marshall. Bruce was a graduate of Science Hill High School and was a member of the R. O. T. C. and honorary rifle team. He served his country as a first lieutenant in the National Guard for seven years. Bruce was retired but had a full career in retail sales of furniture, carpet, the automotive industry and kitchen designing.He was a member of Princeton Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. Bruce was a wonderful man. He had many friends and was an inspiration to all who knew him.Bruce loved cars, motorcycles, target shooting, tennis and playing pool with his friends. He had been in the Meta Tennis eague.Survivors include; his wife, Janice Hunt Marshall; his sister, Elizabeth 'Libby'? Marshall Holbrook; several aunts and many cousins.The family would like to extend special thanks to the Medical Center Hospice.A Celebration of Life Service for Bruce W. Marshall will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. J. Andrew White and Dr. Calvin Jett of Princeton Presbyterian Church will officiate.The committal service will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday, January 3, 2009 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 9:30 AM Saturday to go in processionActive pallbearers and special friends are Jim Kyte, Bill Kyte, Bobby Haney, Wilbur Henderson, Robert Webster, Dean Burrows and Ken Burrows.Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and Elders of Princeton Presbyterian Church.The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Friday.The family request that memorials be made to the Princeton Presbyterian Church, 2703 E.
