December 27, 1957 — February 13, 2018

Bryon K. Bogart, 60, of Johnson City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Johnson City, son of Charles Edward and Shirley Sluder Bogart. Bryon graduated from Science Hill High school in 1975, followed by East Tennessee State University in 1980. He achieved his master?s in Project Management from George Washington University. In 2009, he retired from Embarq as an information technology project manager after 25 years. Since then, he had been employed by CGI Federal. He lived a selfless, hardworking life in which he served and helped others however he could. On Sunday afternoons, he could often be found fishing on the Watauga River. Bryon was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roy Scott. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy Scott Bogart; his children: Dr. Whitney Bogart of Greeneville, SC, and Weston Bogart of Norfolk, VA; one brother, Charles Edward Bogart Jr. and his wife, Kris, of Johnson City; his mother-in-law, Doris Scott, of Watauga; one brother-in-law, Mark Scott, of Watauga; one Aunt, Nancy Hale and her husband, Larry, of Johnson City; and one uncle, Robert Bogart and his wife, Taunja, of Limestone; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family of Bryon K. Bogart will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, February 16, 2018 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Wes Church officiating. A graveside committal service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to gather at Morris-Baker Funeral Home by 10:45 AM to be led in procession to the cemetery.
