Buddy Nowlin, 84, of Johnson City, TN passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Nowlin was a native of Jenkins, Kentucky but had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a Army veteran of WW II serving as a medic. By trade, Mr. Nowlin was an electrician for thirty-seven years and retired from TVA in 1982. He had served as President and Assistant B.A. at I.B.E.W. # 934 Local Union. Mr. Nowlin was also a member of the Johnson City Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. In addition to his parents, and Step-Father, C.J. Nowlin, Mr. Nowlin is preceded in death by: two sisters, June Kiser and husband John, Jannie Killen and husband Garcie; and one son-in-law, Connie Saylor. Survivors include: his wife of sixty-seven years, Edna Mae Davis Nowlin of the home; one daughter, Shirley N. Saylor of Johnson City; one son Phillip Nowlin and his wife Connie of Huntersville, NC; two granddaughters, Tracy S. Leonard of Gate City, VA. and Blake Nowlin of Huntersville, NC; two grandsons, Tim Saylor of Johnson City and Drew Nowlin of Charlotte, NC; three great grandchildren, Cody Leonard and Abby Leonard of Gate City, VA and Nowlin Saylor of Johnson City; one brother, Jack Nowlin and wife Loretta of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The arrangements are incomplete and a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
