John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Mr. Burchel R. Pierce, 92, Johnson City, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2017, at the CLC of the Veterans Medical Center. Burchel was the son of the late Richard and Elva Pierce. Burchel owned and operated Pierce Electric and L&P Motor Repair until his retirement in 1976 due to an automobile accident. He was a proud WWII and Korean War Navy Veteran. He served in the Pacific Theatre and survived Halsey?s Typhoon. He vividly recalled the typhoon and would share the experience with his children and grandchildren. Burchel loved God, family and his country. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. He was baptized in a river in Johnson County as a youth and later with his entire family joined Cherokee United Methodist Church in the 1960?s. In addition to his parents, Burchel was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Gloria Wroe Pierce; and sister, Margie Lovelace. Survivors include: four children, Linda Bailes, Burchel M. Pierce and his wife Cathy, Teresa Pierce Oler and her husband Jimmy and Elva ?Sissy' McKinney and her husband Bill; seven grandchildren, Tonya Bailes Nucci, Phillip Pierce and his wife Ashley, Matthew Pierce, Rachel Beverly and her husband Morgan, Michelle Fleming and her husband Sean, Benjamin McKinney and Amy McKinney; and five great grandchildren, Sydney Pierce, Jasmine Edwards, Aiden Nucci, Patrick Fleming and Rachel Fleming. Special thanks to: the entire staff at CLC Veterans Administration for the loving care given to Burchel; special caregivers over the last four years, Casey Street, Marjorie Dolce and ?Little' Michelle Hershey; friend Rev. Mack Houston, who always shared God?s word and a WWII story. The family of Burchel Pierce will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Wednesday at 2:30 PM, at which time he will be buried with his wife?s cremated remains. Please meet at the cemetery by 2:20 PM for the committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson City/Washington County Veterans?
