Calvin Woodrow Ledford, Sr.

Mr. Calvin Woodrow Ledford, Sr., age 85, of Johnson City, passed away, Friday, November 11, 2011 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Ledford was a native of Chickasaw, Alabama. He was the son of the late James Garfield Ledford and Dora Belle Huskins Ledford. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Calvin W. Ledford, Jr.; four brothers and four sisters. Mr. Ledford was a veteran of the Seabees in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Iron Wokers # 5 in Washington DC for sixty years. He was also Vice President of the Local and served on the executive board. Mr. Ledford was a member for fifty- one years of the Jephthah Masonic Lodge # 222 and a member of the Scottish Rite Temple in Washington DC. He was also a member of the Shriners in Washington DC. Survivors include: his loving wife of sixty-five years, Helen E. Ledford of the home; one son, John Michael Ledford of Florida; four grandchildren, Calvin Ledford III, Kimberly Ledford, Kristen Ledford and Stacy Ledford Lanny; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mr. Calvin Woodrow Ledford, Sr. will be conducted at 1 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church. Pastor James Nipper will officiate. The entombment service will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military rights. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM Tuesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 212 Sunset Drive, Johnson City, Tn. 37604.
