Carl E. Troxwell, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a North Carolina native who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He retired from General Shale in the mid 1980s. He was a regular at the Whites Grocery on Roan Street '? making daily trips to see all of his friends before becoming ill in early December, 2010. He was always lending a helping hand to others he knew, and even to those he did not know. He especially loved children. He was always giving children money to buy something special. He never needed to have a reason or even know them. It was just a joy for him to give to everyone he came in contact with. His family and his friends will sadly miss him. The family express special thanks to: his sitters at the hospital, Roger, Virginia, Donna and Reggie; the 2nd floor staff at Johnson City Medical Center; and Joseph, one of his favorite nurses that did more than nursing. Joseph, you listened to him when he most needed to talk about days of old. A very special thank you to Dr. Alan McCartt (Johnson City Eye Clinic) for performing his Cornea transplant in September 2010. He could see things he had never seen in his 83 years of life. He was amazed and very grateful. He began to walk to his favorite places in down town Johnson City shortly after surgery. Although, it was a very short period it was the most precious time of his life. He never had the chance to thank the donors family but truly intended to do so. His family wants to thank them from the bottom of their hearts. You made his dream come true by being able to see GODS beautiful creations for the first time in his life.
