Carl Leonard Bowman, 74, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Carl was born in a log cabin on Dry Creek in Washington County, a son of the late Matt and Dorrine Bowman. Carl attended King Springs Elementary School and graduated from Jonesborough High School, as well as attending ETSU for a time. He retired from Old Dominion Trucking. He was an ordained Baptist Preacher and attended and was a member of Johnson City Baptist Temple. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by one sister, Juanita. Survivors include: his wife, Debbie Bowman, of the home; two sons, Carl Bowman and his wife Dolores, and Eric Bowman and his wife Tammy; one daughter, Christal ?Cherri' Bowman Thompson and her husband Ray; three brothers, Ricky Bowman, Hank Bowman, Jimmy Bowman and his wife Carolyn; four grandchildren, Amanda Jennings and her husband Scott, Carina Fields and her husband David, Sarah Thompson and Katie Thompson; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Whitaker, Eli Whitaker, Kelsey Whitaker, Tyler Fields, and Kiera Fields; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Stan Rainwater, Lonnie Miller, and Troy Edwards. The family of Carl Bowman will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Wilkie Brookshire and Preacher Charlie Biggs. A committal service will be conducted by Pastor Doug Hartley at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Friends and family are asked to gather at the graveside by 9:50 AM.
