Carmileta B Long

August 27, 1933 — February 18, 2025

Bluff City

Carmileta Bryant Long, 91, Bluff City, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, after a life richly lived in service and kindness.

She was welcomed by her parents Charles and Stella Bryant in 1933, after her two older brothers John and Charles “Bob” Bryant were born.

She later met and married Elven Long, who was her faithful husband and loved her deeply his whole life. Together, Carm and Elven raised a family of two girls, Linda (who married Billy Duncan - Deceased) and Patti (who married Bill Crumley), and later had one son, David (who married Jennifer Gordon). Carmelita also had six grandchildren: Sarah, Bradley (Deceased), Matthew, Jennifer, Lydia, and Zane, as well as three great-grandchildren: Ezrie, Silas, and Elijah.

The Longs were a Christian family and for most of their lives they attended Piney Flats First Baptist Church. Carmileta was an anchor for family and friends, generally thinking very little about herself but just doing whatever was needed to assist and support the people she loved. She tirelessly worked in many different roles: teacher, chef, doctor, therapist, library consultant, gardener, cattle farmer, information gatherer, boss, manager, scout leader, decorator, cleaner, assistant, chauffeur, counselor, etcetera… you know, a loving wife, mother, and friend.

Words cannot express our loss, but we do look forward with hope and certainty towards our future heavenly home where Jesus waits and will bring a glorious reunion, not just with Carmileta, but with all believers who have gone before. What a day that will be! The family of Carmileta Long will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00pm Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Oak Hall at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with David Long officiating. Pallbearers will be provided by Morris-Baker.

Graveside services will take place at Hamlett-Dobson Memory Gardens near Tri-Cities Airport at 3:00pm the same day.
