Carolyn Jewell Rogers

Carolyn Jewell Rogers, 65, 2102 Evergreen Drive, Johnson City is now at peace on Tuesday, January 10, 2005. She was freed from her earthly body to join the Lord in Heaven to dance with the angels. She fought a very difficult battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig?s Disease) and never complained. Mrs. Rogers was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County,TN. She was a daughter of the late Hughie James and Jeanetta Frances Reed Rector. Mrs. Rogers was a teacher in the Carter County School System at Cloudland High School and Happy Valley High School with thirty eight years of service. After her retirement in 1999 from teaching she worked with her daughter at Bear N Friends Toy Shoppe. During her teaching career and her work at the toy shoppe she was lovingly known by her students, working associates and customers as 'Mom'. She was a member of Eden United Methodist Church. Survivors include: her husband of forty five years, Larry Rogers; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry Benjamin and Anna Rogers of Johnson City; one daughter, Debbie Rogers of Johnson City; one grandson, Chad Blankenship of Johnson City; one brother, Jimmy Rector of Jonesborough; two sisters, Joyce Garland of Johnson City and Norma Fawbush of Whitesburg,TN; nephews, Wesley Garland, Wade Garland, James Rector, and Terry Fawbush; nieces, Kathy Fawbush, Alicia Emery, and Eva Rector. The funeral service for Carolyn Jewell Rogers will be conducted at 8 PM Friday, January 13, 2006 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Clyde Hester will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Saturday in the Fairview Cemetery in Jonesborough. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:30 AM Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wade Garland, Wayne Garland, Dean Rambo, Bill Rambo, Banks Saylor, Clarence 'Whitie' Lewis, and Justin Layne. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Garland, all students, faculty and staff of Happy Valley High School from 1962 to 1999, and all her friends at Bear N Friends Toy Shoppe. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Friday prior to the service.
