Carolyn M. Wood

Carolyn Miller Wood, 94, passed away on March 10, 2019, at Life Care Center of Gray. Carolyn grew up in Cleveland, TN and moved to Johnson City to attend East Tennessee State College. She never left and began her career as a secretary at ETSC. She was secretary to the President of ETSU when she retired. Carolyn was an expert at everything she attempted; from tennis to sewing to knitting and all types of needlework. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and reading. The family wishes to thank the staff of Life Care Center of Gray for their help and support. She was preceded in death by: her husband, William ?Bill' Wood; her parents; one sister; and one brother. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Roger ?Hoppy' Wexler, of Augusta, GA; two granddaughters, Sarah Smith, of Augusta, and Laura Shane, of Greenville, SC; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lewis, of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family of Carolyn Wood will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Jane Taylor officiating. The committal service will follow immediately after at Monte Vista Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring St., Johnson City, TN 37604 or a charity of one?s choice.
