Catherine Rita Thomas

Catherine Rita Thomas, 53, of Kingsport died on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport. She was born in Batavia, NY and raised in Alden, Ny, she moved to Kingsport in 1992. Daughter of the late Joseph E. Osucha and Ernestine Strzelczyk Osucha. Catherine was a chemist for the last five years for AGC in Church Hill as a Corporate Lab Manager. She also worked for many years at Nuclear Fuels Service in Erwin also as a chemist. She had received degrees from Alfred State University and East Tennessee State University in chemistry. Catherine was a partner in Thomas Hollow Nursery, Inc. in Bristol for many years as well. She enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with family, hockey, attending her children?s school functions especially band events and fishing. In addition to her father, a brother, James Osucha had also preceded her in death. Survivors include: her husband, Joseph P. Thomas, Sr. her two children, Joseph P. Thomas, Jr. and Laura Catherine Thomas, all, of the home; her mother, Ernestine Osucha; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Coreen, Thomas and Patti, David and Julie and Frank and Sherri Osucha; seventeen nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church at 11:00 am under the direction of Father Peter Iorio and Monsignor Bill Gahagan. A burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Jonathon Osucha, Joey Osucha, III, Jake Osucha, Mike Thomas, Nico Thomas and Michael Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Christian Thomas and Brad Warwick. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, #102, Johnson City, TN. 37601
