Chandler Strauss Morley

Chandler Strauss Morley, age 88, of Limestone, TN, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011 in the John M. Reed Nursing Home. He was a native of Butler, Tennessee, but resided in Johnson City since 1948. Mr. Morley was born in Carter County, Tennessee, a son of the late Ernest P. Morley and Nellie Campbell Morley. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World War II. He retired from First Peoples Bank and was a member of First Methodist Church of Johnson City. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morley was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Blevins Morley, and two sisters, Trula Archer and Vera Hale. He is survived by one brother, Kay Morley and wife Nancy, of Limestone, TN; two sisters, June Higgins and husband E.J., of Jonesborough, TN, and Bonnie Schenkl and husband Alfred, of Florence, S.C.; two brother-in-laws, Clayton Hale and Edsel Blevins and wife Louise; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, April 18, 2011 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with Rev. Garland Thayer officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Boone Dam VFW Post #4933 and members of the Tennessee Army National Guard.
