Charles A. Hall, of Johnson City, TN, died the morning of Friday, November 19, 2010, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina and was a graduate of Harris High School. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Following discharge, he attended Appalachian State Teachers College, where he met his wife, the former Ann Cooper of Burnsville, North Carolina. After moving with his wife to Johnson City, Charles finished his studies at East Tennessee State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked in the furniture business and owned his own retail store for many years. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Emma Jane McKinney Hall, his father Sidney Hall, his stepmother Winnie, and his brothers James, John, and S.W. Hall. He is survived by: his wife, Ann Cooper Hall; his siblings, Hassie Pitman, Malinda Murphy, Billy Hall and Wendell Hall; two daughters, Debbie Hall Buckland (Jamie) and Karen Elizabeth Hall Aube (Greg); two sons, Charles Hall Jr. (Cindy) and John Michael Hall (Marquita); eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and beloved mother-in-law, Muriel Wall Cooper. Charles found his greatest joy in his family. Giving at his death as he unselfishly gave in life, it was Charles wish to donate his body to the Quillen College of Medicine. A memorial service for Charles will be held this Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Bishop Richard C. Looney will officiate. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
