Dr. Charles Carroll Faust III passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Johnson City, TN at the age of 91. He was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA, the son of Charles C. Jr. and Lucy Faust. He left Lake Charles Senior High School when he turned 18 in 1943 and entered the Army Air Corp. He was a B-29 pilot during the war, flying missions over Japan out of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. After the war, he remained in the Air Force Reserves and retired after achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. Dr. Faust went to McNeese College in Lake Charles and later finished his B.S. degree in Education and minor in voice, and M.S. in Biology from LSU. He began teaching math and science and coaching basketball and football at DeQuincy High School in Louisiana and also taught and coached in Morrow and Bunkie High Schools. He eventually returned to school to finish his PhD in Genetics and teaching at LSU as a graduate assistant. He then began teaching full time at the newly built LSU-Eunice. He finished his career at LSU-E teaching biology, anatomy, and genetics for over 20 years. After retiring from the LSU system, he ran a chemical business in Eunice, and eventually returned to his first love, teaching at St. Edmund?s High School and Louisiana College. Dr. Faust also blessed many with his voice performing at weddings, plays, in numerous choirs, and as a choir director at several churches. Dr. Faust was married for over 65 years to Elizabeth Stark Faust, his college sweetheart. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two sisters, Hazel and Mildred. He is survived by his daughter, Candace and her husband Steven Saucier of Eunice, LA; and his son, Charles C. Faust IV and his wife Melody of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Dee McNutt and her husband Price; Brittany Wayman and her husband Bobby; Andre Hyde and his wife Heidi; Michelle Saucier; Chuck Faust and his wife Angela; Hans Faust and his wife Sara; and Heidi Faust. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, as well as one sister in law and many nephews and nieces. Dr. Faust and his wife Elizabeth will be interred in DeRidder, LA after a memorial service for him on March 5, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA.
