Charles D. Long, 75, 1841 Glen Echo Rd, Johnson City, died peacefully Friday, May 31, 2013, with his family by his side. Mr. Long was a Waynesboro, Virginia native who had lived most of his life in the Johnson City area. He was the son of the late Charles and Jeanne D. Long. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War from 1950 to 1955. Mr. Long attended the Piney Flats United Methodist Church. He was a formerly employed as a car salesman and bail bondsman. Mr. Long is survived by: his son, Chad Long, and Milinda Shepherd, Johnson City; daughter, Terrie-Lynn Long, Richmond, VA; two step-children, Kim Carey Williams, and Robert of Erwin, and Andrew Frye, and Greg Rose of Mount Verde, FL; three grandchildren, Max Kay Carey, Erwin, Ben Scott, Elizabethton, and Heath Scott, Jonesborough; and his special friend, Leo Hurdley. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and his hospice workers and special thanks to hospice employee Sherrie. The family of Charles Long will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday at the home, 1841 Glen Echo Rd, Johnson City.
